Classification and functions of specialty paper

The most common term for specialty paper refers to special materials or special-purpose paper that are different from ordinary paper on the market, such as copperplate paper, matte paper, writing paper, carbonless paper, gray cardboard, etc., collectively referred to as specialty paper

Functional characteristics of specialty paper:

1. Water resistance: Usually, ordinary paper needs to be waterproof. However, the special paper with unique performance adopts special processing methods so that it can resist water and water. The reason why special paper can achieve water resistance is because it adopts the following unique processing techniques, such as resin impregnation, paper wetting and strengthening agent, paper resin coating, paper process wax coating and other processing methods.

2. Light blocking properties: Special paper is a special material formed by interweaving fibers, so there are inevitably many gaps between fibers. However, special paper is filled with various fillers during the papermaking process and attached to fibers, while special paper presents an opaque and light blocking state. Therefore, special paper has good light shielding performance.

3. Liquid absorption: Special paper has a strong ability to absorb liquids, and the reason why special paper has good liquid absorption is because there are gaps between paper fibers. The key to processing the liquid absorption of special paper is to select wood pulp fibers with large gaps and low density as raw materials and develop a reasonable pulping production process.
